Department of Information Science
The Information Science and Engineering is the youngest and most promising branch of the day. The Department of Information Science and Engineering was started in the year of 2000 with an intake 40 for four year B.E. course. Presently enhanced AICTE approved intake is 60.
The department is spread over an area of 609 Sq.mts. The department infrastructure includes- 90 state-of-art of desktop PCs housed in three different laboratories – Wireless Network laboratory, Database management laboratory and Analog & Digital Electronics laboratory. A wireless (Wi-Fi) networking (Wi-Fi) provides flexible internetworking of PCs in the department.
It is one among the only few institution in the state to possess wireless networking. There is a provision of 2 Mbps (Broad Band) Internet access to cater the needs of the students.
The core of the department lies in the young and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff members , whose efforts have been helpful in the overall development of students in the college.
The staff members and students are encouraged to involve in research work and present papers at national/international level conference/seminars. The students are encouraged to do creative, innovative projects under the guidance of staff members. Some of the projects have been selected by KSCST.
The students of the department have not only excelled in academics, but also in various competitions conducted in the college and in other colleges. In the year 2005-06, students of the department have bagged the highest participation award in sports activities in the college.
The Department of Information science jointly with Department science conducts various activates other that academics. Under Forum of computer science (FOCS), a students club co-ordinated by the staff members, various extra-curricular and co- curricular activities have been conducted. Under the program Mission Parivarthan, various career guidance activities which facilitates placement and higher education of students are conducted. It includes conduction of aptitude-test, quizzes, debate competitions, programming skill test, group discussions etc. The Total Personality Development programs conducted by the department aims at students’ personality development and
A state level students paper presentation competition WITS is conducted every year to have interactions.
The department is proud f its students achievements at university exams and placement. One of the students has secured 8th rank to the University. The students of the department are well placed in reputed IT companies in India and abroad. The alumni of the department are placed in companies like Infosys, Wipro, iGate, Torry Harris, MBT, Sayam etc.,
The staff members of the department have shown active participate in Karnataka state government project Mahiti Sindhu, a school evaluation program and also involved in providing Computer training for staff members of various institutes under B.L.D.E Association viz., B.L.D.E A’s Medical College, B.L.D.E A’s Pharmacy College, B.L.D.E A’s, B.L.D.E A’s B.Ed College and B.L.D.E A’s Polytechnic College.
