        Vachana Pitamaha Dr. P.G. Halakatti College of Engineering & Technology, Bijapur is a premier technical institute located in Northern part of Karnataka on a scenic stretch of land spread over 20 acres in Bijapur. BLDE Association started this esteemed college in year 1980 as a private Institute. The Institute is the result of the BLDE Association’s recognition of the need for quality technical education in the country. To achieve this objective, it has striven hard to create an environment and infrastructure that enables it to produce qualified, practical engineer who are ready to face the challenges in the industries. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum. The college is recognized by AICTE New Delhi and the 5 Programmes have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi during the year 2015. At present institute is offering 8 UG programmes and 7 PG programmes in Engineering along with MCA & MBA programmes. Six departments are recognized as Research Centres by VTU, Belgaum to offer Ph.D. and M.Sc. Engg. (by research) programmes.

Human Resources :

          Over the years the staff strength and student intake have grown from 25 to 225 and from 120 to 1152 respectively. The staff strength is reinforced with 15 Doctorates, 175 Post Graduates. The staff members work hard to provide our students with all that is top-notch in engineering and management fields require. The proactive core research activities by faculty have fetched the grant exceeding Rs. 1.00 crore in the past three years from VTU/VGST/AICTE etc.

The student strength on campus is more than 3500. At present Institute students intake is as under;

          UG Programme

   Regular & Shift (4 years programme) – 750 students + 20% lateral entry
quota at second year level.

          PG Programme:

          M.Tech (2 years programme)              – 126 students

          MCA (3 years programme)                  – 60 students

          MBA (2 years programme)                  – 60 students

          More than 50 students have secured University rank under Karnataka University , Dharwad and VTU, Belgaum since inception of the Institute. Students of our Institute have won many prizes at inter-institute competitions in sports and cultural activities. Our students also participate in many co-curricular activities like Seminars, Paper presentation etc at inter-institute competitions and have won many prizes.

Infrastructure :

          The college has excellent infrastructure in terms of building, amenities in IT and other sectors. Total built up area of the Institute is 31000 sqm which is more than prescribed by AICTE, New Delhi . Institute is having 1000 state of art computers and every department is having 2 Mbps internet connectivity and main computer centre is having 16 Mbps internet connectivity. The Digital Library is one of the best in this part of the region.

          Other infrastructure include facilities like WIFI connectivity, play grounds, hostels, libraries, computers, classrooms with LCD’s, conference halls, seminar rooms, laboratories as per AICTE norms, canteens, controlled access to computer and parking of vehicles which makes this place aspiring student’s dream destination.

Teaching & Learning Processes:

The student teacher relationship is very crucial and effective in the college. The quality teaching learning process is emphasized by the highly qualified faculty. The teaching learning, research and administrative processes are quality driven and embellished with continuous improvements to meet the global standard by rigorous adherence to set procedures and exhaustive quality audits.

          There is a process of mentoring, which has a ratio of 1:20 between the faculty member and students. The additional features followed in teaching learning processes are;

  • Tutorial Classes are conducted for difficult subjects.
  • Remedial classes are conducted for academically weak students.
  • Students are encouraged to involve themselves in innovative mini projects III year onward.
